Global Green Team

AEGON established a so-called Global Green Team in 2008. Members of the Green Team are drawn from AEGON's main country and operating units. Work began in 2009 on a program designed to bring local and regional initiatives in this area together into a coordinated plan for company-wide resource management.

 

The Green Team met several times in 2009 via conference call to discuss AEGON's consumption of energy and other raw materials, including electricity, gas, water and paper.

 

As a first step toward a coordinated plan, members of the Green Team have started to compile an extensive inventory of properties occupied by AEGON employees. This inventory will cover buildings leased by AEGON, as well as those owned by the company.

 

This inventory will help the Green Team understand both AEGON's current energy and raw material requirements, and form the basis for further measures to reduce the company's overall consumption.

 

During the course of 2010, AEGON will develop a specific target to reduce the company's total carbon dioxide emissions.
