Human Rights

As a global company, AEGON recognizes its responsibility for helping defend and promote human rights. AEGON has had a human rights policy in place since the end of 2007. As part of this policy, AEGON upholds the United Nations' Universal Declaration of Human Rights and subscribes to the standards of the International Labor Organization, as well as the principles on human rights and labor standards contained in the UN Global Compact.

AEGON's policy on human rights applies to all AEGON business operations. The policy also commits the company to applying the same policy, wherever possible, to its dealings with third parties. AEGON's Human Rights policy is included in the company's Code of Conduct, which applies to all AEGON employees. AEGON also endeavors to raise awareness among employees about its policy and broader human rights issues through the company's e-learning programs.
